London: Singer-actor Justin Timberlake credits his role as Sean Parker in “The Social Network” with furthering his acting career.The ‘Sexy Back’ hitmaker landed several small film roles before appearing in the 2010 movie about Facebook.com founder Mark Zuckerberg, but he feels David Fincher’s drama properly launched him as an actor, reported Contactmusic.

“I’ll tell you what sort of changed things for me was literally when director David Fincher hired me. It did open up a huge door for me. And the opportunities started to happen,” he said.One opportunity Timberlake could not pass up was the lead role in Joel and Ethan Coen’s upcoming music movie “Inside Llewyn Davis”.

“Before we started working on that movie, I randomly ran into Matt Damon and he said something that stuck with me. He said, ‘You know the Coen brothers, that’s... a call that any actor, it doesn’t matter what age, you just hope that one day you get a shot at that.’ I was kind of blown away at that.“If I would’ve got a call from Joel and Ethan Coen saying, ‘Hey, we’d like you to write music and work on some music in our film,’ I would’ve peed in my pants.”

Meanwhile, Timberlake had earlier said that he finds President Barack Obama the coolest guy. Timberlake, who appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’, talked about performing at the White House in May for the “In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul” concert, reported E! News.

Bynes mentally unfit for trial, says lawyer

Los Angeles: Hollywood actress Amanda Bynes’ lawyer Rich Hutton says she is unable to appear for a trial as she is mentally unfit.The 27-year-old was scheduled to appear in the court for her driving under influence (DUI) arrest in West Hollywood back in April 2012, reports tmz.com. 

Hutton told the judge that Amanda did not have the mental capacity to understand the nature of the legal proceedings. The case has been transferred to the mental health court.The judge in that court will conduct a hearing to determine Amanda’s mental competency.Currently, the actress is going through a long-term treatment under a conservatorship.

Carter helps West Indies A level series 1-1

Bangalore: A run-a-ball century by 25-year-old Barbadian Jonathan Carter (133, 132b, 18x4, 3x6) powered the West Indies A to a deserving 55-run win over a wayward India A to level the three-match one-day series 1-1 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Tuesday.
Asked to bat first, the visitors recovered from a poor start and with Carter playing the anchor-role to perfection, made 279/6 in their 50 overs. 'Poor refereeing cost me gold'

New Delhi: World Championship silver medalist wrestler Amit Kumar on Tuesday said that a bad umpiring decision at the fag-end of his bout cost him a deserving gold medal in the final of the 55kg category against Iran's Hassan Farman Rahimi.

Asian Champion Amit Kumar had to settle for silver after going down 1-2 against Rahimi on the opening day of World Wrestling Championships on Monday at the Papp Laszlo Arena in Budapest, Hungary.
Talking over phone from Budapest, the 19-year-old Asian champion said he was "disappointed" to have narrowly missed the opportunity to equal the record of two-time Olympic medalist and countrymate Sushil Kumar — the only Indian to have won gold in the World Championships in the 2010 Moscow edition.
"It was a tough final against Rahimi and we both fought tooth and nail. The referee gave me a warning for engaging in defensive and shadow wrestling. In reality, it was the other way round as the Iranian was getting back on my moves. He was more defensive and the point should have come my way," Amit lamented.
"In the first round, I took the first point and twice came close to pinning him down in the second round. We were tied at 1-1 in the first round. In the next round, the referee awarded him the crucial point.
"Referee was warning me for not attacking Rahimi but the official should have warned the Iranian for not responding to my moves. In the end moments of my bout (second three-minute round), he awarded him a point which left me disappointed. It was clear that I was the one who was more attacking throughout the bout," he added.

The 2012 Asian Championship bronze medalist further added that referee's warning led to distraction which cost him the final bout.
Coach Virender Kumar, who has accompanied the 24-member Indian contingent at the World Championship, also made his displeasure known when he said his ward was "very impressive" throughout the match and deserved to win the yellow metal.
"It was a good fight but referee's decision put paid to his hopes. He has got good skills which he amply showed against Rahimi. It was a bad decision by the referee but nevertheless, I am happy for Amit who made the whole nation proud," said Kumar.
Amit emulated Bishamber Singh who had won silver in World freestyle wrestling championship in Delhi. En route his final bout, Amit defeated Sezar Akgul of Turkey 8-0 in the semifinal, Agelo Alesmo Escobedo of the USA 6-0 in the quarters, Zoheir Elo Arraque of France 8-0 in the third round, Yasuhiro Inaba of Japan 10-2 in the second round while in the first round, he had got a bye.
Amit thanked Sushil and London Olympics bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt for encouraging him before each bout.

"Their kind words helped me a lot. They always egged me on before every bout. I had a word with my mother (Sheila Devi) before the semis and she was happy with my performance," said the wrestler from Nahri near Sonipat in Haryana

Los Angeles: Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband Kris Humphries is auctio-ning off reality TV star’s 20-carat diamond engagement ring.The NBA player has reportedly listed the ring for an October 15 sale at Christie’s auction house in New York City.

Humphries is not named explicitly as the seller, but according to reports, the ring in question is identical to the one Kardashian wore during her brief engagement and marriage to the athlete.A representative for Christie’s confirmed that the ring up for auction is a Lorraine Schwartz creation with a 16.21-carat center diamond and two 1.80-carat side diamonds - the exactdimensions of Kardashian’s ring.

The auction house could not disclose the seller’s name but said it was “a gentleman.”“It is 100 percent the same ring. Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it. Everyone always asked what Kim did with the ring she silently gave it back over a year ago.And Kris waited until the divorce was final to sell it,” a source said.

The ring is expected to fetch between $300,000 and $500,000 at the auction.Humphries and Kardashian were married for 72-days and their divorce was finalised three months back.

“I used to sew my underwear up. You know the little gap at the front of your briefs? Just sew that up so nothing can pop out unexpectedly,” showbizspy.com quoted the 68-year-old actor.The Basic Instinct star also said that a sex scene is all about the right preparation and rehearsal.

London: Michael Douglas did a lot of drugs when he went to university.The Wall Street 2 actor said he became “a hippy” when he enrolled in the University of California and spent his time taking psychedelic drugs rather than taking his  studies seriously, reported Contactmusic.
