Chennai: Hugh Jackman-starrer The Wolverine, which released on July 26, has grossed Rs.15 crore on the opening weekend in India.
“The Wolverine has garnered an astounding Rs.15 crore gross (Rs. 10.5 crore nett) in its opening weekend in the country,” read an official statement.
“The opening weekend of the film also ranks as the third highest of all time for the production house’s (distributor Fox Star Studios) Hollywood title after Avatar andLife of Pi,” the statement added.
Jointly produced by Lauren Shuler Donner, Hugh Jackman, Hutch Parker and John Palermo, the film received an overwhelming response. Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, said, “We are elated at the exceptional opening figures. The success of The Wolverine has effectively set the platform for our next year’s biggie X Men: Days of Future Past.”
